London-based Footbo.com was founded in November 2007 by Mani Honigstein and Rafi Honigstein. Mani Honigstein is currently CEO, while Rafi Honigstein is head of Business Development. In March 2011, the company raised another $2.5 million from Pitango, an Israeli VC company.

Competition to Footbo comes from sites such as Football Networks. Football Networks has similar features to the Footbo site. One major difference is that they offer real-time chat rooms for discussing topics related to football. The Football Networks site has a smaller userbase than the Footbo site.
